Popular Costa de Almeria Resorts

Almeria City is an incredibly charming metropolis. You’ll find winding cobblestoned alleys and many examples of historical architecture that are not roped off as an attraction, but still lived in. In addition, Almeria also has a great choice of beaches, some of them crowded, but others less well-known and off the beaten track. Almeria is popular with expats and because of its popularity with tourists, and the fact it is a city, there are work opportunities to be found.

Vera is located 73 km north of Almeria, and is one of the more important commercial towns on the Almeria coast. The old town of Vera is approximately 10km inland, but the new part, named Vera Playa lies on the coast. Vera Playa has become one of the most popular towns for naturism in Europe, and attracts many visitors from all over the world. You can find very cheap property in Vera and with job opportunities increasing with the number of tourists visiting the area, this town should be considered as a viable option by anyone thinking about moving to Almeria.

Mojacar Pueblo is a hilltop village with a picture book whitewashed appearance, depicting a typical traditional Spanish village. The pueblo overlooks Mojacar Playa, where residents and visitors can enjoy 17 kms of unspoilt sandy beaches. Offering a perfect blend of pueblo and playa, along with very affordable properties and just an hour’s drive from Almeria City, Mojácar is an interesting destination on the Costa de Almeria for expats.

The Costa de Almeria enjoys a very mild climate with a yearly average of 18.5C. Like in the rest of Spain, the hottest month is August, when temperatures reach around 28C to 30C most days. Almeria city is unique among European towns with regards to weather, as there has never been a recorded temperature in the town below freezing. Currently somewhat less well connected due to the number of flights to the area than other resorts on the Spanish costas, but very accessible all the same, the Costa de Almeria is served by Almeria airport. The airport is located just 8 km from Almeria city. Airlines that fly between the UK and Almeria include Easyjet, Monarch, and British Airways.
